Reclaiming my wild — going back to the eco-resort we built & sold
In March, I had a dream that I went back to the eco-resort that my husband and I built and sold. I woke up feeling deeply and oddly at peace for someone with almost chronic anxiety.
The next day, I heard from the new owner for the first time in a year. Coincidence? Seldom.
We reconnected, and creative sparks flew.
Before long, we were discussing working together again, and within a day of our first client meeting, the universe conspired to bring us together in real life. Tickets to see Jane Goodall. A perfect weather forecast. An easeful month at work creating room for a trip out west. What could be better?
My husband and I instantly bought tickets to Vancouver to revisit the city we’d called home for six years, now with our two-year-old in tow.
A plane, ferry, and car ride later, we were standing in the resort that we’d built and sold because of permitting issues.
But now, thanks to its amazing new owners, it was fully functional. And felt WILD.
Here are some of the photos I captured from our stay.
They combine the furniture we designed with a local carpentry co-op, the modular reclaimed decks we built from wood salvaged from an old railroad, and the amazing operations, details, and thoughtful touches the new owners brought to life.
I’m thrilled to be back working with Stay Wilder again for the summer, and excited for what this journey will bring us all.
